Fall puts me in the mood to create Thanksgiving cards. And the Stampin’ Up! mini catalog features a wonderful Autumn Leaves dies set. So, I focused on using this theme for my cards.
One Thanksgiving Card
While I was thinking of a color scheme for my first card, I knew I wanted to use the rich color Blackberry Bliss. So after much consideration, I came up with a color combination I liked. I made the card base from Wild Wheat, and cut the “trees” (actually a leaf stem die) from Copper Clay. The leaves are die cut from Pumpkin Pie, Sweet Sorbet, and Tahitian Tide, then glued to a Blackberry Bliss background. The strip of Very Vanilla makes it all stand out. I stamped the Rustic Crate sentiment in Blackberry Bliss, too. Don’t you love how one Rhinestone Basic Jewel gives just enough sparkle?!
More Autumn Leaves Cards
Once I got going with the first card, more the ideas came for other cords. Sometimes, I get inspiration from the most unexpected places. The “let heaven and nature sing” card was inspired by a wall hanging I saw in a hotel room. And the “with love & gratitude” card from Paper Pumpkin and Nature’s Prints dies. The card on the left uses sentiments from Perched In A Tree.
After I made the wreath card, I started thinking about sprays of leaves! Because I used my Elegant Eucalyptus embossing folders for some Paper Pumpkin alternate projects, I thought why not use the Autumn Leaves dies with these folders, too. The next cards incorporate the 2023-2025 In Colors and give you an idea how to use the leaves with one of the embossed images.
Last Autumn Leaves Dies Idea
Because I usually find too many products that I like in these catalogs, and can’t possibly use, I try to narrow my choices when I purchase new ones. So, the coordinating stamp set that compliments the Autumn Leaves Dies did not make my list. You probably noticed and wonder why? Well, I felt I could make my own masks by using the dies. Masks can be made by die cutting acrylic sheets left over from my photopolymer stamp sets. Once I transfer the photopolymer stamps to the case, I no longer need that acrylic sheet. But I save it. I also use these acrylic sheets to create shaker cards and more, but this time I made leaf masks. Here’s the card we made during our October stamp club gathering, using the masks and blending brushes.
The sentiment comes from the Rustic Crate stamp set, again, and fits perfectly inside one of the Autumn Leaves label dies. The colors we used for this card were Petal Pink, Misty Moonlight, and Copper Clay. We added a string bow and some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels for accent.
I’m excited to craft with these dies for more than just one season. We recently learned that the Autumn Leaves dies and stamp set are items on the carry-over list, so this means we will see them in the future, once this catalog retires!
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
