Rain or Shine Smiles

Hello, Everyone! Today I’m sharing some ideas for greeting cards that were inspired from the Sunshine & Smiles Paper Pumpkin kit I received in February. The card designs in this kit are some of my favorites, just as they are meant to be assembled. But, I always like to see what other card/project designs I can make with one set of cards. So, keep reading and see which rain or shine smiles could help inspire you!

Sunshine Smiles

I decided to cut the three different card bases in half and see what I could create, because they were so unique. These first two cards were inspired by an idea from the kit instructions. The “sky” and “rainbow” backgrounds that came from the inside parts of cards were each cut in half. I cut the “grass” in half, also. The half pieces are just the right size to fit behind the openings. I simply scotch taped those parts in place. Remember to stamp the sun before you use the tape! One of the frogs is a cut out from the kit and the other I made.

For the first card, I added a frog, flowers and a “you brighten my day” tag from the kit. In fact, all the parts for this card came from the kit. And after everything was in place, I adhered this to the front of a folded basic white card base.

Rise and Smile

The second card front looks most like the example from the instruction sheet inside the kit. This frog and bunch of flowers were actually stamped, colored with Blends markers, and then die cut. If you notice, I scotch taped the rainbow behind the opening, but then I adhered the grass on top of the card front. The Flirty Flamingo lines on this card front helped me to align the grass. And just like the first card, I adhered the front to another basic white card base.

Rain or Shine Smiles

So far, two sunshine smile cards created!

Rainy Day and Happy Cards

Next, I created one rainy day card and one happy day card from the blue card base that I cut in half. To give me a background for my happy day card, I also cut an envelope. By cutting the envelope, I expose some beautiful paper to use as designer series paper (DSP). I love the bunny, flowers, embellishments, and Mango Melody “DSP” from the kit. The Covered in Sunshine sentiment fits perfectly here!

Happy Day

Because I only used a few of the cut out pieces in the kit, so far, I accumulated quite a few clouds. This card front actually came from the inside of the original card base, but it makes a wonderful card front with those clouds, too. Ducks and turtles don’t really need an umbrella, so they left it nearby, just in case. Again, the flowers were stamped, colored with blends markers, and die cut. Otherwise, everything else came with the kit.

Rainy Day

Rain or Shine Hello

My last two cards began with inspiration from the mini catalog and the host stamp set, “At the Pond.” The Sunshine and Smiles stamp set from the kit has the cutest little “hello” sentiment that I wanted to use. So, when you combine all those elements, you might create some cards that look like these.

I still had a nice piece of the envelope that I cut, which made the front for this card. It’s so happy!

Sunshine Hello

You’ll need your Raindrops embossing folder, Double Oval Punch, and Heron dies to create this card. The DSP used for the pond was a Sale-a-bration item. As a result, you may have a piece yet. I cut one of the labels from the kit in half to make the hello banner. Substitute what you own already, to create a one-of-a-kind card. Even though it’s raining, that smiling frog gives a cheer to anyone. This might become a get well card.

Hello Rain

So, if you’ve been counting, I cut three card bases in half to create six cards. And, I even saved some leftover pieces for other cards. Rain or shine, smiles are on the way!

Rain or Shine Extras

It’s March, Rain or Shine!

It’s March, and that means it’s time to make sure you are subscribed to receive the March Paper Pumpkin kit, Ten Years of Growth!

To celebrate, 10 years of Paper Pumpkin, this kit includes an extra stamp set. But that’s not all. This kits includes supplies to make 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs. Plus, it contains everything needed to assemble them, along with a Polish Pink ink spot!

Until the next kit arrives in my mailbox, I still have one more set of cards to make from my Sunshine and Smiles kit. I’m undecided if I will make them as intended, which by the way, I really like. Or, I may make a shaker card or two. To see the shaker cards I made with the last kit, click the button.
