One of the alternate ideas that was included with the kit instruction sheet was to make a shaker card. I created my own version of the card in order to make a Valentine card. What a wonderful way to use the For Everything Fancy Sequins and the Loose Daisy Embellishments. I used the acrylic sheets that the photopolymer stamps come mounted on, but if you don’t have any, Stampin’ Up! sells window sheets. Because the acrylic sheets have a few marks after removing the stamps, I clean them with a lens wipe before adhering with tear & tape over the opening.
Key to My Heart Shaker Cards
Then, attach foam adhesive strips on the card base to hold the sequins in place. In order to allow enough room to accommodate the foam strips, you will need to re-score the card base. Score on both sides of the score line, already on the card, at 1/16″. By doing this, you should have approximately a 1/8″ section in the middle of the base to accommodate the depth of the foam strips. This should give just enough space for the sequins to move, also. Once the card is all stuck together by the foam, it does not open, but I plan to add an extra piece of white cardstock on the back for a message. The colors of the sequins and daisies coordinated perfectly!
I enjoyed making this card so much, I made two more as a result. With the aid of the Layering Circles dies and the Stitched Rectangle dies, I cut openings in the other two card designs. The colors of the daisies didn’t match these card bases, so I only added the “fancy” sequins. Here are the close ups.
Three different card base designs created three different Valentine cards for my three daughters. Now, I have a few more parts of the card bases leftover, so I can assemble more alternate cards. And I still have to cut apart some envelopes and create with that pretty paper, too! There are so many possibilities.
