Playing with the Piggies

This year the piggies returned to the annual Stampin’ Up! catalog, and I was eager to add them to my piggy stamp collection! Also, during September, we all had opportunity to acquire a matching die set for the This Birthday Piggy set. Maybe you were able to take advantage of this offer, too. But even if you have not, I hope to show you how I’ve had a lot of fun playing with the piggies, so far.

Ready to celebrate some birthdays!

This Birthday Piggy Card

Because the die set offer was only good through the month of September, I thought it would be nice to use the This Birthday Piggy stamp set at our Tuesday stamp club. I needed this card to be fairly simple and only use the stamp set. Also, I didn’t have a lot time to prepare, and thought the stamp group could appreciate this simple layout while playing with the piggies. The colors for this card were inspired by the Celebrate Everything DSP found in the July – December 2022 Mini Catalog. Any Stampin’ Up! host can earn this paper. It’s so versatile!

Off to a celebration!

We did some simple stamping with Memento black ink and coloring with the Blends markers, then adhered all the pieces to the card front.

Ready for cake!

Some choose to always stamp their inside sentiments on a white piece of cardstock. But I don’t, if the card base is a light color I opt to make it simple.

Happy Place Piggies

The piggy on the motor scooter is cute, but the one that really attracted me to This Birthday Piggy set was the piggy wallowing in the mud. These are a couple more simple layouts using the simple stamping and coloring techniques. While making them, it was a lot of fun to combine this piggy with the Hues of Happiness DSP (designer series paper) because it’s a perfect match in my book!

Find your happy place!

Playing Piggies

For those of you who don’t have the piggy die set, try using the Designer Tags die set. As you can see, two of the tags are featured on the next card. I remember as a kid how I loved the tassels on my bike handlebars and the flag attached to my back wheel. Celebrate with the 2022-2024 In Colors for a color palate. And then add a bike tassel and flag to the large tag!

Stir up the confetti

Here’s another layout idea using the wallowing piggy. I plan to try using the hippo dies with the piggies soon, because this die set has grass, flowers, a wash tub, and some other fun dies. Also, the Celebrate with Tags bundle has many elements to play around with, too. So keep watch for a part two post.

A wallow in the garden.

Birthday parties can be a lot of fun! There are banners, balloons, presents, and cake. This card helped me to say that I was able to use all the piggies dies from the set. As I look at the wagon, I think anyone could make a similar one without the dies. So let your imagination run wild!

Let’s eat!

Playing with Some Old Friends

Let’s remember back to a couple of years ago. Stampin’ Up! offered a stamp set called, “This Little Piggy” and I had a lot of fun using that too, I still have it. Back then, many of us created our pigs wearing masks, because it was during the COVID lockdown and no one could go any where without a mask, apparently not even the pigs. Ha! But, I had to try, and you’ll be happy to know these two piggies from the retired stamp set also fit in the wagon. I guess the point I’m trying to make here is don’t be afraid to fussy cut something you don’t have a die for. I do not have the dies to cut some of the piggies or the flowers in the Hues of Happiness DSP, so I fussy cut them, too.

Get creative!

Playing with the Piggies Featured Products

Even though the die set for the piggies stamp set is no longer available, there are a lot of other products that are available. So, select an item number to view and learn more about Stampin’ Up! products I used for these projects.

Express your creativity, and may you have as much fun playing with the piggies as I did.
