Bouquet of Hope Ideas

I always have an idea ahead of time what to expect in the Paper Pumpkin box, and yet, there is still a lot of surprise when I open it for the first time. The Bouquet of Hope cards are very easy to assemble because all the pieces and instructions are included. But what happens after all the cards are made and there is only the stamp set, a few extra labels, and an ink spot left? “Create more” with those parts! Here are three ideas to get you started.

All three Bouquet of Hope ideas start by using this simple technique with DSP. See my previous post, Use You Designer Series Paper! for details. But if you don’t have a lot of DSP, cut some pretty coordinating envelopes and use this paper as your DSP backgrounds. The cards you make will fit into a plain white envelope, just as well as a fancy one.

Bouquet of Hope Idea #1

The leaf stamps, in this set, reminded me of teardrops, which is how idea # 1 started. The card base is made from white cardstock (CS), and a piece of paper from Flower & Field Designer Series Paper (DSP). I used black and Misty Moonlight ink pads and a leftover label from the PPK (Paper Pumpkin Kit), to stamp the verse and tears. Then I made a bow with Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, and found a precut foil piece. And when I put it all together, the result was this card. I even added teardrops inside with the sentiment.

Inside sentiment

The precut foil piece, I found, is from the Looking Up all-inclusive card kit, but you can easily substitute a foil piece from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper or even use a piece from the Square Vellum Doilies pack, in its place. If you don’t have an extra label leftover from the PPK, get out your Story Label punch and make your own label. And if you don’t have Flower & Field DSP, you can substitute a different DSP, or cut up one envelope from the Looking Up kit.

Bouquet of Hope Idea #2

This next Bouquet of Hope idea uses a different foil piece from the Looking Up kit and a leftover rectangle label from the PPK. Find your black Stampin’ Write marker and ink portions of the sentiment, then stamp it so that it fits horizontally in the label, as shown. The background paper is from the True Love DSP pack. But, you could cut an envelope from the Looking Up kit to obtain a black and white design paper, also. I used black string leftover from a past PPK, and the embellishments are Matte Black Dots.

Idea #3 Uses the Bouquet Stamp Image

After making two very dark colored cards, I decided I needed to brighten it up for this last of the Bouquet of Hope ideas. And I haven’t even used that beautiful bouquet stamp image yet. So, let’s create this card to encourage someone and send a paper bouquet of hope. Spring is just around the corner, too, and I’m reminded of it here.

  1. Cut a card base from Granny Apple Green CS and a background piece from Artistry Blooms DSP.
  2. Stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight CS.
  3. Stamp the beautiful flower bouquet onto white CS and color with blends pens or watercolor pencils. Fussy cut around the bouquet and take the brush end of the Black Stampin’ Write marker and carefully run it along the cut edge of the bouquet. As a result, it gives a laser-cut look to your image.
  4. Next, cut a 3″ x 3-1/2″ piece of vellum. Give the vellum some texture with the Subtle embossing folder. (Option: Use another vellum doily for this step).
  5. Read the Twelve Tuesdays Tip, below. Then arrange all the parts to your liking and adhere with glue and dimensionals.
  6. Lastly, add some more Matte Black Dots to step it up.
Twelve Tuesdays Tip

Problem: Glue and adhesives can show through vellum and distract from the card’s beauty.

Solution: Adhere vellum by hiding glue, glue dots, or dimensionals behind opaque card parts that are layered on top of the vellum. Also, use the design of the DSP to help hide glue dots, and position them on the white areas of the DSP, when they can’t hidden behind layered pieces. I did this for card above.

Maybe you liked the Bouquet of Hope cards, as is, from the box. Don’t despair, because if you have received the PPK and have run out of those pieces and parts, you can order a refill! Just click on the button to order.
