Continue using your stamp set from the November 2020 Jolly Gingerbread Paper Pumpkin Kit. Make a Jolly Gingerbread shaker card! Because I really wanted to use that cute gingerbread house, I started looking through the August – December 2020 Mini Catalog to get an idea. And there it was, on page 64! Of course, my card looks nothing like the mason jar shaker dome card, but it was enough to help get me going on my idea.
Shaker Card – First Try
I still had an acetate sheet and a foam mounting frame from the August 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit to make one more shaker card. So, I made the card base and then die cut my card front frame with the stitched rectangle die. I stuck the foam frame to the paper frame, I just cut, but without putting the acetate sheet in between! Ugh! That was wrong! Since that was not going to hold any Snowflake Sequins, I had to get out some Foam Adhesive Strips and die cut another paper frame. This time, I adhered the acetate sheet to the new paper frame with tear tape, and I mounted foam strips to the gingerbread house scene. When those two parts were ready, I added sequins. Then I was able to stick the card front to the foam strips. Finally, I had a shaker card! Yay!
Second Try at the Shaker Card
The little gingerbread house is too cute. I really wanted to figure out a way to use the card front frame piece that I stuck the foam frame to (without the acetate sheet). With the card below, I made my house in the woods scene, sprinkled some snowflake sequins on top, then I layered a piece of cellophane that I cut from a recycled wrapper over the scene and snowflake sequins. When everything was in place, I could adhere the foam frame to secure the cellophane to hold the sequins in place. The card literally has more of a 3D feel, but it’s still a shaker card!
Other Jolly Gingerbread Houses
Here are a couple of other cards that I made, using the gingerbread house. They are not shaker cards, but fun to make. I recycled the centers of the two shaker cards shown above. They are the left over pieces cut by the rectangle die and I built my scenes on them, then mounted the scenes to cardbases. The “happy holidays” card uses one of the pre-made card bases I described in my last post.
I’ll be making more of the shaker cards before the season is over, though. That little gingerbread house is too cute to leave in a box!
