Drive through the state forest, hike in the woods, or visit a tree farm. The Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder reminds me of these fun times.
Use the Evergreen Forest Embossing Folder 3 Ways
- Make it a focal point.
- Cut the paper apart, or use up scraps, to give interest in different way.
- Keep the forest as a backdrop.
Drive through the Forest
Make the embossed evergreen forest a winter scene focal point. The Always Thinking of You card was not my own idea. It was actually inspired by another demonstrator, in a Facebook group that I am in also, Denise MacCabe. She used the Just Jade ink pad to ink the embossing folder before adding her paper and running it through a cutting/embossing machine. My ink pad was way to juicy to do this and I had to go to plan B.
First, I embossed the paper, and then inked up my rubber brayer and ran it over the paper. After doing this, I got an effect that makes the sky look like Northern lights. (Thinking about it later, I would like to try this technique with Night of Navy ink and after the ink drys, find my white gel pen to add some stars). To finish, I glued it to a Shaded Spruce card base, stamped and punched the sentiment, added linen thread and enamel dots.
Hike in the Woods
My friend, Connie, and I were working together on the technique and practicing with scraps I had just laying around. We tried inking the opposite side of the embossing folder by touching the ink pad to the folder and this was the effect we got, as seen above. Only the entire piece of paper was not so nicely colored and was a result from a juicy ink pad. Because I only liked parts of it, I trimmed off a portion in the middle of paper that didn’t look so nice and then had two smaller strips. One of them is in the Thank You So Much card that can be sent any time of the year.
Visit a Tree Farm
Visiting a Christmas tree farm soon? This card features some of the Plaid Tidings DSP and the Festive Post stamp set in the August – December Mini Catalog. I simply dry embossed the Evergreen Forest to a Shaded Spruce card base to make a wonderful backdrop. This card came together quickly. I’ll need to make a few more . . . (wink)!
All three of the techniques used with the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder made simple yet pretty cards. I think this is why I like to use embossing folders – emboss paper, add sentiment, and you have a card made!
