Discover the beauty and the detail of the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder. I must admit, I love to craft with embossing folders, because any embossing folder can add a touch of WOW! to any project with very little effort. You can have a quick note card in no time flat by just stamping a simple sentiment. and using an embossing folder to enhance the card front. This is why whenever a new Stampin’ Up! catalog becomes available, one of the first things I like to look for is a new embossing folder. So when I saw the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder in the 2020 – 2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, it immediately went on my wishlist.
June 2020 Twelve Tuesdays Project Inspiration
At our June Tuesday Stamp club, Joan (one of the demonstrators in our group) left me with a card base and a few leftover pieces from the card she shared with the group. She asked if I would make a card for one of the gals, that had to leave early, so she could have a sample. I promised her I would put the card together and give her one. Joan’s card used the die pieces from the Poppy Moments die set, but her card used the Subtle 3D embossing folder, a “Congratulations” greeting and inside sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. We accented the “Congratulations” greeting with a pearl, and brushed the flower centers with Wink of Stella.
So a few days after our club meeting, I found a little time to sit and put the pieces of Joan’s card together. I don’t have the Peaceful Moments stamp set. As a result, I needed to use the stamps I did have to give me the same affect as Joan’s card. My Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder was also staring at me to use it (Heehee!). The sentiments in the Woven Heirlooms stamp set came to mind, and so I pulled it out to see how this would work. Here is how my card turned out.
Putting the pieces together . . .
- Cut a piece of Cardstock lengthwise to 4-1/4″ x 11″, and score at 5-1/2″, then fold at the scoreline.
- Stamp the “Thinking of You” and the flourish about 1″ from the bottom edge of the card base, with Black Memento Ink, using the Woven Heirlooms stamp set.
- Slip the front of the card base into the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder, and dry emboss using a die cut/embossing machine. FYI – Stampin’ Up! will have the Stamp’ Cut & Emboss Machine available this Fall, so if you are in need of an embossing & die cutting machine, you know where to look. Yeah!
- Cut the flower and petal pieces using the Poppy Moments dies.
- Glue the flower and leaf pieces together and then adhere to the card front with a combination of white glue and dimensional adhesives.
- Brush the flower centers with a bit of “sparkle” using your Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
- Adhere Basic Rhinestones around the floral cluster.
- Stamp the inside sentiment and flourish with Black Memento Ink.
Above is the inside peek of the card, and you can see even more of the detail that you get with this embossing folder, and the photo below shows the detail in the flower centers from using the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.
The Perfect Combination: Embossing Folder, Stamp Set & Cutting Dies
I was so pleased with how the card turned out! After I embossed the card base with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder, I immediately fell in love with it! The catalog picture comes nowhere near to showing the fine details of this embossed paper. The words from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set, small flourish, and the die cut poppies and leaves show off well against the embossed background. Don’t you think so?
Overall, I really like the tone on tone look of this card. All the different textures, here, really make it work. This greeting is versatile enough to use for a birthday, wedding, or anniversary card. I’ve got more ideas to use this folder with. Stay tuned!
