Play in the Rain

It’s been rainy weather around here lately, so what better thing to do than write about ways to play In The rain! I recently acquired a pack of Just Kidding DSP and as I was looking it over, I was inspired to pull out my Playing In The Rain stamp set. Here’s what happened after that.

When you’re a kid, it’s so easy to pretend. And when I look at the Just Kidding DSP, I’m reminded of all the fun kids can imagine up in their play. I fussy cut a few of the kid images from each of the DSP sheets. There is one sheet design that has background scenery for the kids.

Play in the Rain with Kids

My focus began with the rainy background images and combining them with the Playing In The Rain stamp set. I did some real simple stamping with Memento ink. One of the cards has a Sunny Days DSP background. You might have some left from Sale-a-bration, too. And the other card has a background texture from the Raindrops embossing folder. The embellishments used for each card will be available in the new annual catalog yet. Yay!! I love how the curl of the black Baker’s twine mimics the curve of the Rainy days font in one card. And I think the Glossy Dots Assortment gives a special shine to the other card.

When I cut the rainy backgrounds from the Just Kidding DSP, there were two larger pieces. But I cut them again to create these next cards, because I had to use the rabbit jumping in a puddle and a fox walking with an umbrella. I colored the fox and rabbit with Stampin’ Blends markers. Go ahead and search for these while you visit one of the other links. The white twine comes from the same Baker’s twine essentials pack. And the Adhesive-backed Sequins Trio will also be carrying over into the new annual catalog. Another YAY!

Some other background designs in the DSP actually measure 6″ in height. I didn’t want to cut this bookcase up, so I found retired cards and envelopes that accommodate this paper size. Can’t you just imagine what these two little ones are dreaming up?! Sentiments for this card come from the Phrases For All stamp set.

This next card utilizes almost a half sheet of DSP, 5 1/2″ x 12″, and scored at 2″, 5″, and 8″ to make a fun fold. I mounted the DSP onto a quarter sheet of cardstock. The front piece of cardstock measures 2 1/8″ x 5 1/2″. I like to emboss this piece before gluing it to the 2″ DSP flap, Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder. The first and last sentiment are stamped with Celebrate with Tags stamp set. and the middle sentiment comes from the Phrases For All set. Of course, the person I send this card to will NOT get a cake. But I will be sending lots of love!

Playing Outside Again

This last card to share today takes us back outside. One of the Just Kidding design sheets is full of kids playing with their pets. When I opened up my Playing In The Rain stamp set, I found a few leftover pieces and stamp set from the February 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit, Smiles and Sunshine , inside the case. Yup, after the rain, sometimes we’re blessed with a rainbow!

The card base and envelope are retired, but perfect for the background of where I would imagine playing with a pet bunny.

Playing Outside again!

I’ve created a few more cards with the Just Kidding DSP and will be going back to use the non-kid sides of the DSP. After all, that is what attracted me get the paper in the beginning. Squirrel! If you know what I mean. Watch for more to come.
