The January 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit was full of plenty of hugs & kisses with love! This kit offered 10 fun-folded shape cards with matching envelopes. The coordinating stamp set allows us (subscribers) to use the cards for many different occasions. And because I wasn’t thinking I’d always need a fun-fold shape card, I altered the cards, just a little, for my liking by adding the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) and Gold Mini Pizza Boxes.
All Occasion Hugs & Kisses
These cards would be appropriate for more occasions than just Valentine’s Day or a wedding card. I love how the In Good Taste DSP looks when one fun-fold card is cut into three separate hearts and mounted on it! And I’ll use these cards for thank you, birthday, or just thinking of you greetings. I used one of my favorite ways to cut and apply DSP to my cards. Click HERE for more details.
Another Fun-fold Card Style
Here’s another way to use up some DSP. Cut some DSP to measure 5-1/4″ x 12″, then score at 2″, 5″, and 8″ to make a different fun-fold card style. Mount this DSP to a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of cardstock. Add a 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ strip of cardstock to the front of the card. Then, embellish as you like. I also combined some hearts I punched using what I had in my stash.
I made a third fun-fold card as described above, but I wanted a smaller gold polka dotted heart for the front of the card. To accomplish this, I traced the size heart I needed and cut it out, with a craft blade, from the center of one section of an ivory heart-shaped card. I roughed up the edges of the heart to disguise the cut edges, and like the distressed look of this. Here’s the card I made. Sentiments and embellishments were leftovers from past Paper Pumpkin kits.
Make a Photo Frame
I now have a hole in one of my kit cards, because I made the card above. As a result, I decided this would be a good place to tuck a photo behind and fill in the hole. Whether it’s mounted on a card front, or as part of a scrapbook page, it’s a cute idea. This is the trifold card I cut the heart from. It’s displayed on a card front and folded as the kit’s design was intended. I also added a ribbon.
Allow me to show you how it looks when the three accordion folded hearts are opened. So, the last panel reveals an area that would be perfect for a photo. I roughed the edges of where I cut the heart from, also, to smooth the cuts from the craft blade. Just make sure you accommodate for removing the photo, if that’s what you want, or attach it so it can’t be removed. This card still opens like a regular landscaped card style, and there is plenty of room to add a greeting or to journal, then add to a scrapbook page.
Hugs & Kisses Box
This kit has the option to order extra treat boxes with it, if you are a subscriber. I, personally, do not need as many treat boxes as the add-on kit supplies (24 boxes), so I ordered the Gold Mini Pizza Boxes from the Clearance Rack in my on-line store, instead. Eight pizza boxes come in a pack. I cut up one envelope from the Hugs & Kisses kit to make the strip that decorated the box top and a couple heart pieces from the kit. Add a ribbon of your choice. Just use what’s in your stash. Which ribbon would you choose?
Don’t limit yourself to use this kit! Let your imagination go. If you don’t have any In Good Taste DSP, you can order some or use other papers. During Sale-A-Bration, earn the Simply Marbleous DSP, free, with a $50 order. There are a couple of colors in that pack that will also work nicely with this kit. Sale-A-Bration rewards can be earned through February 28th.
Are you ready to create more using Hugs & Kisses, with love? I hope you found these ideas useful and try one or more for yourself.

- It’s an all-inclusive kit, so that means everything you need to make these cards is inside the box!
- The stamp set will be perfect for any occasion, “hello,” “thanks,” “thinking of you.” And because it’s the anniversary month for Paper Pumpkin kits, a second BONUS stamp set will also be included to thank subscribers!

While we wait for this kit to come, the February kit, Safari Celebration, is already on it’s way to my house. I’m excited, and we’ll be able to create on the wild side!
