For the past 21 summers, my husband and I have volunteered to help for a week at a kids camp sponsored by our area churches. And every afternoon, providing the weather is suitable, we walk to the beach from the group camp and back again. But in order to get there, we need to walk through a quiet meadow, on the Meadow Trail. Now, we walk with approximately 100 kids, so when we walk, I can guarantee we aren’t very quiet! My husband and I usually walk at the end of the pack to encourage some kids to keep moving along and not fall behind. (Smile). In spite of this, the views of the meadow trail are loaded with wild flowers and butterflies to see and inspired me to stamp a card that reminds me. As a result, the Quiet Meadow bundle can help me do this.
Quiet Meadow Bundle
Since I am the “craft director” for camp, I spend a lot of time in the lodge crafting with the kids. And when it’s time to walk to the beach, I AM READY! So the flowers and dies in the Quiet Meadow bundle attracted me because it truly represents the meadow I know. I also loved the projects displayed in the annual catalog for this bundle. I CASE’d them.
Quiet Meadow Card Club Project
In August, I featured the Quiet Meadow bundle for our card club. I highlighted this bundle with some of the free DSP we could earn with a $50 order during the Sale-A-Bration period, called Beautifully Penned. We created the card on the right. Cut the DSP frame for the Pool Party card using the Stitched So Sweetly dies. The flower cluster was stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with leftover embossing powder, a combination of white and silver. It gave the extra sparkle this card needed.
Because there was the extra DSP piece leftover from die cutting the frame, members could take the middle piece home to make another card of their choosing. I made the card on left with Pale Papaya cardstock, to give them one idea. You’ll find this is another CASE’d idea from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. However, instead of using the Shaded Summer dies, I used the flowers from the Iconic die set.
The Meadow Trail
When we walk the Meadow Trail at camp, there is a wide variety of flowers in the meadow. Ever since I got this bundle, I’ve wanted to make a card that looks like the Meadow Trail. Here’s my commemorative card to reflect what we see.
The meadow is full of all kinds of flowers: buttercups, Black-eyed Susans, Queen Anne’s lace, coneflowers, and a whole bunch more! There are tons of butterflies and colors. As a result, I originally intended to color the flowers, but after I stamped them, I couldn’t do it. I stamped the flowers with various shades of green inks and am choosing to remember the colors of the flowers when I look at this card. I love walking the “quiet” meadow trail every summer and look forward to doing this again!
Beautifully Penned DSP
Here are a couple more cards I made, featuring the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper, while I was playing with the Quiet Meadow bundle. Earn this paper for free when you purchase the Quiet Meadow bundle. Get 12 sheets of 12″ x 12″ paper total, that includes 4 sheets each of 3 black and white, double-sided designs. Be inspired!
