Hi, All! I’ve been busy enjoying the last of the summer weather, lately. We got all our kids and grandkids together for a fun weekend. I don’t know the last time we were all together in the same place. I went zip-lining for the first time and loved it! We also spent time at the resort waterparks and made tie-dye shirts, too! But the last couple of weeks I’ve been busy playing with my August Paper Pumpkin Kit, the Hope Box. Let me show you what’s inside my Hope Box.
What’s Outside My Hope Box?
The Hope Box kit came with extra pieces to decorate the outside of the box this month. I still want to make a few cards with some of those pieces, so I attached one of the kit cards to the box band. I can still enjoy this card and some of the ribbon when I want to remind myself to keep hope.
So What’s Inside?
I chose to use my Hope Box to store cards that give others Hope, when they need some encouragement. So, let me give you a peek inside!
Remember I said I had some envelope ideas for the envelopes in last month’s kit, The Adventure Begins? Well, I used the ideas here with the Hope Box envelopes. These four cards are made from three of the envelopes. Cut the envelope flaps off, then cut the two short sides of each envelope, so the entire design on them would show when opened flat. The card in the lower left is made from the envelope flaps. And the other three were made from each opened envelope. Use ribbon to conceal the fold lines from the bottom of the envelopes.
Here are the cards made with the envelopes from The Adventure Begins kit. I kept them simple with little embellishment for the times when I need something not so frilly.
So Many Extra Pieces!
Because I didn’t use some of the pieces that were meant to attach to the outside band, I was able to make a couple more cards with those. The white background for the card on the left was the piece leftover after punching out the butterflies in the kit, all the rest of the pieces were intended to decorate the box band.
Use the other extra pieces in the Hope Box with French and German words preprinted on them. Unlike the Expressions In Color kit, I could not use these words in the same way. Here’s how I will be using them. Each piece of paper has two sides, so when you can’t use one side, turn it over and stamp the words from the Through It Together stamp set on the back. I’ll cut the large banner into three pieces for the different sentiments. These labels will be ready to attach on future cards.
You can also use the stamps from the Hope Box kit to stamp on the backs of the larger extra labels.
Last Idea for Hope Box Extra Pieces
Make the ribbon from the kit into butterflies! Find your string, leftover from other Paper Pumpkin kits. Cut a long and short piece of ribbon, then knot the string around the ribbons to make the butterfly antennas. Trim the ribbon for the wings. See the picture below.
So far my Hope Box is holding nine cards, but I have more to make. I hope it will hold them all, because I’m thinking I will have about seven more. Also, I hope this post has given you some ideas of your own!

What’s Coming for Next Month’s Paper Pumpkin Kit?
The Haunts & Harvest all-inclusive kit contains enough supplies to create 12 treat packages—4 each of 3 designs. Finished treat box size is 2-1/2″ x 2″. And as always the kit includes an exclusive stamp set and a Classic Stampin’ Spot. The coordinating colors are Basic Black, Pale Papaya, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, and Soft Succulent.
This kit will allow you to celebrate a Fall harvest or Halloween, or just mix it up! You aren’t even obligated to make treat boxes. Make cards, scrapbook pages, or create whatever inspires you, out of the pieces. There’s an extra bonus this time. The box will be marked inside, so you can cut out and assemble a 3D vintage-inspired wheelbarrow to display your treats!
Click inside the Haunts & Harvest banner, above, to sign-up for this kit before September 10th, and the box will arrive in your mailbox before the end of the month!
