What’s not to like about the May 2021 Batter Up! Paper Pumpkin kit? It’s a baseball theme and perfect for my baseball-loving boys! But, the bold words of the stamp set can be used for more than just baseball or softball cards. The kit arrived just before my husband and I watched our grandkids play their park & rec’ baseball and soccer games. Watching these games inspired me to make alternative cards using just the stamp set. (Well, I guess I used three resin dots from the kit, also). Let me show you some Batter Up! cards for my boys, and granddaughter, using the May 2021 Batter Up! Paper Pumpkin Kit.
Batter Up! Cards for My Boys
It’d been a little while since we’ve been to the kids’ ball games, but it felt good to be outside on a beautiful day! My younger grandson’s team had a great baseball game and won. It was fun to see them root for their teammates, and I was reminded how they line up the bats along the chain-linked fence, ready for them to take to the batter’s box. This is the card I was inspired to make after watching his game. All three Batter Up! cards for my boys use the same color scheme found in the May 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit.
Because I wanted to just use the stamp set first, I challenged myself to make my own baseballs for the cards. A sponge from the March 2021 kit, an ink spot from the April 2020 kit, a Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker, and a 2″ circle punch helped me accomplish this. For those of you who have this kit, can you tell the difference?
Baseball Caps & Bats
Next Batter Up! My older grandson’s game was going on at the same time as the soccer game, so my daughter had his game playing on her phone app. We saw my grandson make a nice base hit, sailing just over the second baseman and into center field, virtually! To create his card, I used the Tasteful Textile and Pinewood Planks (retired) 3D embossing folders to give some more interest to the background. These textures remind me of a chain-linked fence and the ball field billboard.
One More Batter Up! Card for My Boys
I made this All Star card for my husband, because he loves just about any sport and he enjoys working his side-hustle with his Athletic Training degree. And because this stamp set didn’t have all the right words to make his card, I needed the help of the May 2018 Manly Moments Paper Pumpkin stamps. Happy Father’s Day!
Batter Up! Cards for Girls
I would make a Batter Up! card for a girl, too. But my granddaughter doesn’t play baseball or softball. She’s a soccer player, and we saw her team win their game, too. Yay! Batter Up! has those wonderful bold sentiments that can be used for anyone and anytime. Obviously, the kit isn’t soccer-themed, but that doesn’t matter. As a result, to make a soccer card, I had to dig out an old Stampin’ Up! set, Have A Ball, for making this card. That set had the date of 1997 on it, but it has a soccer ball stamp in it! Find a small star punch, or something similar, to make stars. Then, add some matte black dots for embellishment.
A Grand Kid
To complete the card insides, I used A Grand Kid stamp set to help me find the right words. These sentiments were the perfect compliment. I plan to make a few graduation cards from this stamp set, too, because I always like to have a few of these on hand. It’s also a good set to use, just to let someone know you love them!

Honestly, the only thing I’ve touched out of my kit has been the stamp set and a few of the resin dots. I guess I should be off to use more of it, and I will, because I need one more Father’s Day card for my dad! He’s a Brewers fan. Thanks for visiting the Batter Up! cards for my boys, and granddaughter, using the May 2021 Batter Up! Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Thank you! Have fun with your kit!
Great post for the batter up kit! Your alternative ideas are great! I love how you incorporated the soccer one for your granddaughter.
Thanks, Jenny! Aren’t those some great bold word fonts in the stamp set, this time?
