Use Your Designer Series Paper!

I’m guessing most of us took advantage of ordering a package or two of Designer Series Paper (DSP) last month during the sale. It’s so pretty and hard to cut up! But, it does no good taking up space in your craft area, when it is unused. So, use your Designer Series Paper. Now, how should we use it? Here is an easy way to cut and use it, it’s one of my favorites . . .

How to Cut Your Designer Series Paper

Whether you begin with a 6″ x 6″ or a 12″ x 12″ sheet of DSP, you can make card bases ahead of time with your DSP. You don’t have to wait to have a creative moment to do this.

  1. Cut a piece of DSP that measures 4″ x 6.”
  2. Trim 3/4″ off the long side, of the 4″ x 6″ piece, so there will be two pieces: 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 4″ x 3/4.”
  3. Cut coordinating cardstock for a card base, 5 1/2″ x 8″ or 4 1/4″ x 11,” and fold in half.
  4. Adhere the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP to the card front, and the 4″ x 3/4″ piece to the inside, as shown below.
  5. The card base is ready to decorate in a simple or fancy way.

NOTE: Adhere another piece of light colored cardstock inside, when card base is dark, so the sentiment or other stamping/writing can be more visible.

Examples Using DSP

Here are a few ideas for decorating the card fronts, once you have the bases made. I may have mentioned it before, but I think DSP is an easy way to step up even the most simple stamping, and make your card a little more special.

This card is for a masculine birthday.

A Christmas card . . .

Another Christmas card . . .

A winter card . . .

I like to make number of card bases ahead, and then decorate the fronts when I need one. If one really wants to go crazy, 72 cards could be made from one 12″ x 12″ package containing 12 sheets of DSP! I have never made that many at one time, 12 cards is usually what I have made at a time. This will give me one card using each design in the pack.
